"Ry Cooder and Manuel Galban’s record "Mambo Sinuendo" was the main inspiration for making this record," explains Miller. "I was inspired by the live sound that they captured while recording that record in Havana, and I wanted to make instrumental songs that transported the listener to far away places and evoked a sense of relaxation and wonder

"This was a very off-the-cuff recording experience," Miller continues. "I pulled together an amazing cast of my favorite musicians in LA, presented them with some overall inspiration and direction, and then just let the magic happen."
The result? An authentic moment in time that brings the listener into a world of tropical, exotic soundscapes and playful melodies.
The name Magic Sands comes from a beach in Hawai’i with the namesake, which refers to how the sand seemingly vanishes and reappears with the strong ocean currents. The name represents the nature of the project itself - an ever-changing collective of musicians, a project that can shift sonically from one song to the next, and each record thereafter.
